As part of our Democratic Review, we’ve been asking our students and trustees about how we can better represent you through our paid Full-Time Officers. We’ve been looking at the best ways to ensure we are representing the needs of our Exeter community across the Officer roles.
To help achieve this, we can now confirm that for the 2023/24 academic year, our Full-Time Officer roles will be:
- Guild President
- Education Officer
- Societies and Employability Officer
- Communities and Equality Officer
- Student Living Officer
- Sports President (this is not a Guild role and sits within the AU)
Could you lead Exeter students? The Officer roles are paid, full time roles, ideal for your first graduate role, or you can take a year out of your studies. Whether you are an UG, PGT, PGR, Mature or International Student, the Officer roles are open to all current students.
With Leadership Elections just around the corner, now is the perfect time to look at the role descriptions and register your interest in these positions!

Why should I become an Officer?
Aside from working with amazing Guild Staff, here are some more reasons you should consider nominating yourself to become an Officer.
1. You could make friends for life! Loads of our Officer teams from years gone by are still in touch and have made lasting friendships.
2. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be a trustee of a charity – you’ll learn about how the Guild is governed and be a part of this important task.
3. Great networking opportunities – from University staff to other Officers across the country
4. Gain some amazing experience to take into your future career – you will develop your leadership skills, time management and negotiation skills, to name a few!
