St Luke’s students are a huge part of our community and we want every part of your student experience to reflect that.
You told us G48 felt dark, unloved, and didn’t really feel like the Guild. So, we listened and we acted.
We’ve invested £15,000 to give G48 a much-needed refresh and turn it into a brighter, more welcoming space, designed around what you told us you needed.

Now, G48 is lighter, softer and more adaptable space. We’ve added new lighting to brighten up the room, repainted the walls in lighter tones, and brought in Guild colours so it feels like a space that truly belongs to you. It’s filled with new comfy sofas and chairs, flexible study furniture, better storage, and a new, more approachable reception desk. There’s also a mounted digital whiteboard for students and societies to use for meetings, study sessions, or group projects.

But we didn’t stop there.
- We’ve expanded our Community Library to St Luke’s – a free little library stocked with fiction and non-fiction books that reflect the diverse experiences of our student community. These are here to help us connect, reflect and better understand each other.
- You’ll also find a board games cupboard to help you unwind, photos of our student community on display, and a peg board filled with Guild freebies to take and share.
- Need a break? We’ve stocked up the kitchen area with mugs, plates, tea, coffee and other essentials to help you reset – and yes, the microwave is still there too!
- We’ve also updated our staff office to make sure more student and career staff can be on-site at St Luke’s so you can access Guild support without having to head to Streatham.
This refurb is part of our wider commitment to making sure all students, wherever you’re based, have access to inclusive, useful, and community-driven spaces – we spent £76,000 across 2024/25! In our most recent Big Guild Survey, 71% of students told us Guild spaces are flexible and meet their needs, and we’re working hard to push that number even higher.
We couldn’t have brought this space to life without your voices and the brilliant team of staff who got stuck in – from painting and building furniture to making sure every detail worked for you.
Come and check it out and let us know what you’d love to see next. Watch the video tour.
