On Monday 11 December, we held our second Marketing Advisory Board Meeting. Here is a summary of the discussions and topics:
Updates on actions from the October meeting
Marketing & Brand Manager Emily gave an update on:
The dedicated page for Student Priorities, which is now live. Each priority now has its own visual identity.
The Student Elections hub – using feedback from the first advisory board, language has changed from nominate to apply, and the page provides more context about the roles, as well as a visual timeline of the whole process from application to election.
Social media Platforms
The next part of the session focused on social media, and we asked board members which platforms they use regularly, and where they would expect or like to see Guild content.
The use of broadcast channels and communities were discussed, and what information would be useful to be shared in this way. Board members agreed they wouldn’t want constant updates via push notifications. Instagram stories are a good way to provide real time updates.
There was positive feedback on the use of titles on Instagram grid posts, as this makes finding information on a specific post easier when scrolling.
Liberation Months
The last part of the session focused on liberation month planning, and how marketing could be more authentic and relevant.
Advisory board members had some great ideas and discussions on these topics, and the marketing team will factor these into future planning where possible.
