Student Bands Night

Whether you’re into indie, rock, pop or something new, come along, soak up the atmosphere, and maybe even find your next favourite band!

Live music in Exeter

Looking for the best places to enjoy live music in Exeter? 

Exeter Phoenix - located in Gandy St, and hosting plenty of live events including new bands, DJ sets and tribute acts.

The Cavern - this indie venue has hosted early gigs from artists like Biffy Clyro, Muse, The 1975, Bastille and more.

Great Hall and Lemon Grove - head to these venues on campus for bands, orchestras, comedians and speaker events.

Our music community:

We have over 20 student-led musical groups and societies for you. Perform competitively, try something completely new or showcase your talents with jam sessions and performances.

Don’t worry – not all our societies audition, so you’ll definitely find one that fits what you’re looking for!

Facilities:

Cornwall House:

Check out our practice rooms at Cornwall House, that have been purpose-built to make your music sessions the best they can be.  

It has seven individual practice rooms, exclusive to Music Members that you can book 7:00 – 0.00 seven days a week. Each one has a piano or grand piano, a music stand and a Bluetooth speaker. New for this year, we have the Second Band Room. This is kitted out with all you need for band practice, including a drum kit, bass amp, two guitar amps, and a PA.

Cornwall House also has a secure storage room to keep your instruments safe.  

Kay House:

For those who love a late night or early morning practice session, this is the place to be! Kay House has not one but two 24-hour practice rooms for Music Members to book and use at any time.  

Amp Room:

Rock out in Kay House's fully kitted out band practice room! Find a drum kit, PA, keyboard, bass and guitar amps, mic stands and a microphone here, perfect for all-out jam sessions.  

Acoustic Room:

Fancy some time alone – just you and your instrument? This individual practice room with an upright piano is ideal for individual instrument or vocal practice.  

Recording Studio:

Time to crack on and get recording! Our recording studio is open 24-hours a day, has industry standard software and hardware, has two large live rooms and an isolation room for all your needs!

New to all this? Don’t worry – we provide tailored introductory studio training to help you get used to our facilities, whether you’re just starting out or a dab hand at sound engineering, recording and production. Whatever your experience, take advantage of this great opportunity!
