Your Student Officers have been working closely with the Russell Group Students’ Unions (RGSU), a powerful collective representing over70,000 students across the UK. This partnership is helping ensure your voice is heard not just on campus, but at a national level.
By collaborating with other Students’ Unions and learning from their successes, your Officer team are tackling shared challenges and identifying new ways to improve student life. From accommodation pressures to academic support, many issues affect students across the UK — and by working together, the RGSU is finding collective solutions.
“This partnership gives us the chance to compare strategies and share best practice,” explained Seb (Education Officer).“When we lobby the University, it’s incredibly useful to know what’s already working elsewhere. It makes our case stronger and helps us suggest real, practical solutions.”
This year, the RGSU has agreed to focus on four major priorities: supporting medical and international students, championing responsible investment, and pushing for greater widening participation. These were chosen because they reflect challenges many students face, and they offer real opportunities for progress when tackled together.
Working with the RGSU has also opened new doors for your Officers — including attending high-level meetings, building national connections, and even lobbying the Government. This collective voice doesn’t just benefit one university: it gives student leaders the influence to shape the wider student experience across the UK.
By being part of the RGSU, your Officers are making sure your concerns are not only heard, but acted on — from Exeter campuses, all the way to Parliament.
